Bogotà, COLOMBIA: Monserrate y El Museo del Oro

First things first, NOT AS SCARY as I thought it would be. Of course, one always has to be vigilant and aware and I feel very safe wearing my fanny pack money belt and only carrying a few necessary things with me in the pockets of my jeans and jacket. (Yet to break out the cargo pants....ahaha).

Day 1
We arrived after traveling for 10 hours, settled in, ate dinner and slept for like 12 hours. We were exhausted.

Day 2
We visited Monserrate, a cathedral on top of a hill over looking the vast and sprawling city of Bogota:
View of Bogota from the top of the hill.

The vista from the top
Teleforico: Little bus that we took up to the top. It was a STEEP climb.
The Stations of the Cross (Look close and you can see the face of Jesus in the cloth Mary is holding).
Me, doing my thing...

While this man does pushups right behind me. Many people were exercising at the top after a jog or run up the hill!

Maria, drinking cocoa tea, it is deliciosa! And gives you that KICK that you don't get from dunkies.

Some Flora at the top of the hill.

El Museo del Oro, The Gold Museum. The Indigenous peoples of Colombia and much of Ecuador were privy to many gold, silver and cooper resources in the Andes regions.

Using the natural resources available they worked the gold out of the ground and made these objects. The leaders and Shamans of these ancient civilizations would make offerings to the gods by paddling out into the middle of a lake and dropping them into the deep body of water.

There were many items to look at and you could see that very skillful hands made them.
