Bogotà, COLOMBIA: La Catedral De Sal...aka muchos crosses made of salt

Day 3:
Us ladies of the citayy took Bogota's one and only above ground public transit, TransMilenio, along with a "colectivo" or minibus to the Salt Cathedral in ZIPA! or Zipaquira just outside of Bogotà. Both were very affordable and easy to use and access. I think I know I love public transportation.

To get to La Catedral del Sal, we had to take the minibus or "colectivo" after the TransMilenio. While on the minibus, and for all minibuses so far in Colombia a man usually stands in the doorway collecting passengers, it was quite the sight to see! He would just stand there and like hang out the doorway. I feared for him at times, pero no pasa nada...it's what he does.
Women cleaning the sidewalk, outside of our favorite cafè in Bogotà, Tipika.

Statue of man before mining salt.

Entrance in salt cathedral, note: Maria is walking into it.

One of the several crosses illuminated. This one was very small and they all coordinated with the stations of the cross.

Me, in front of one of the larger crosses, it was soo dark in there that my white, white face lit up like a ghost in front of the flash.

Peek-a-boo! Maria in one of the little caves in salt mine.

Maria y yo!

She was insistent upon this pose, so she did it.

One of the larger crosses taken from standing right below it, it was HUGE.

There were a lot of lights illuminating the inside of the mine, so i insisted upon doing this pose.

A salt miner!

There was a cafè 180 meters, or 300 ft below the ground, we had a little cup of coffee.

Another cross, better angle, eh?!

Salt in the salt mine, I tasted it, it was very salty!

A view from outside the salt mine, many tall trees and flora.

Vista from outside the salt mine.

Our lunch after walking around The Cathedral of Salt.

This was the name of the restaurant where we ate.

Me, drinking guanabana, a special fruit and drink of Central and South America!

Our lunch:  a giant meat plate and some potatoes, soooo good!

A cross-dresser on the street of Bogotà.

A murale on a wall on the street of Bogotà

Just outside of our hotel in Bogotà, right below the oval gold sign.

Me, inside the salt mines...Hasta Luego!
