About Me

My photo

I´m Michelle and I am traveling in Latin America. I have always wanted to travel here and I finally left my home in Boston, MA in July 2013. I have been traveling since then, working here and there and continuously realizing that the world is filled with opportunities for exploration. I hope to travel for a long time but I always find a cozy place to stay for some time. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions I am more than happy to take you up on them. Live long, travel far, love often.

San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas: MEXICO

After missing an overnight bus from Oaxaca to San Cristobal, we finally left Oaxaca and got the bus for the following night. Oops! San Cristobal is a bit more elevated so the climate was perfect, not too hot during the day and chilly at night, good for sleeping. We went bike riding to some local towns, and saw a truly beautiful canyon filled with crocodiles. The town was filled with delicious restaurants, friendly people and mixed with both locals and foreigners. Even I wanted to stay and call it my new home... Time will tell.
The steps to the centro overlooking the town.
The town and yes, it's a baseball field.
Tzotzil people selling local produce In the market.

The church in Chamula, the indigenous town next to San Cris. The church has no benches inside. One walks in and sees the mix of traditional culture mixed with post colombian Catholicism. People praying on the floor, shamans, chickens and saints. No photos, so this is as good as I could get.
Local girl vending to traveling gringo, the Tzotzil are also known for their artesanary.
Local dress, the skirt is furry, not sure of he material, maybe sheep and the top always colorful.
Local family.
Locals from Zinacantan. This is their style; More flowers and their skirts are embroidered as well.
Local making artesanary products.
The alter in her home. Animal figures are used as candle holders. Also used in the church.
Also celebrated one year of traveling!
