Nasca, PERU: The lines have been drawn.

Us ladies decided to head to Nasca, to see the infamous Nasca Lines. We headed out on a little jet plane and flew over the dessert that in which the lines lie. It is believed that the lines were created around 400-500 A.D. by the Nasca culture, and were only discovered almost 80 years ago with the invention of planes.
Maria Reiche, German Archeologist, working hard to determine the significance of the lines.

Outside of Reiche's home.

View from Reiche's home, where she would most likely sit and ponder the true meaning of the lines.

"Hey, I have an idea, just toss the bricks up to me." (En español, pos supuesto)

The frog with 9 toes/fingers to represent the 9 months of pregnancy.

Look closely, you can see Maria in the figure. It is a replica of the humming bird.

Maria, getting her Pisco on, with our friend Luis.

That was our plane.

We are inside the plane.

Fellow riders, from Spain, and our captain and co-pilot.

The astronaut.

Mira a la vista!

The humming bird. (Same shape as previous picture of humming bird)

Lines.

More lines. There are many theories about the lines. Maybe they were a map of the sky above at night, maybe it was a map of where the water would come from. Whatever it is, it is still not 100% known. They are clearly something to look at and wonder about.

Lima, PERU: We finally left Máncora

Arrived here in Lima on Monday after a 19 hour bus ride. Luckily, we sat in front of children who wouldn't stop kicking our seats, cried the entire ride and then got sick on the bus to top it all off. We were thankful to arrive in Lima at last. We stayed in the center of Lima and saw many cathedrals and important buildings and then moved to Miraflores, an area which is more modern and better for restaurants, parks and the ocean.

Máncora, PERU: The Bermuda Triangle of the Pacific Coast; It sucks you in.

Us ladies are here in Màncora, Peru. We just can't seem to leave either. We have been here since last Friday night and keep extending our stay. It is a small little surfers town with only one main road, the Panamerican Highway. We have been enjoying delicious ceivche and getting our fill of bacon and eggs at this local breakfast place called Green Eggs and Ham. And, The Ceviche. What can I say?!?, it is to die for y Màncora es de puta madre!

This is the style of taxi driven around.

Ahhh, the beach.

Horse back rides on the beach.

The showing of the tapestries. Maria and I both bought one each.

Surfers.

Our Chilean friends, took us out to lunch and showed us how to eat Ceviche the proper way.

Boogie boarding beauty!

Nice sunset on the beach.

New sandals, since someone stole my Chacos on the beach at sunset. Ohh, then it happened again another night. So I am now on my second pair of sandals.

Sunset!

View from our favorite Breakfast place, Green Eggs and Ham.

Ceviche, raw fish in lime juice, onions and plantain chips and some scallions.

Enjoying the waves at sunset, this surfer dude was just relaxing after a long day of riding the waves.

Baños, ECUADOR: Cascadas y Puentes.

Us ladies arrived in Baños, Ecuador last Sunday and we were pleased to be accompanied by our new friends, Gill and Juan Pabs. We quickly came to feel how nice and relaxing Baños is, what with waterfalls off in the distance and the green mountains surrounding the town. Very beautiful. On our first night in we took it easy with some massages and then moved on to some more adventurous activities.
Una Cascada, or waterfall which led into a hot spring in which people bathed.

Me, in front of la cascada.

Going en la chiva for our tour of the cascades.

Talking a gondola, type thing, over the river.

Parrot.

"Don't go chasing waterfalls...."

Laughy taffy!

Our favorite karaoke bar in Baños, La Abuela.

Mmmm, delicious cappuccino from our favorite Crepe place.

Maria getting ready to jump off of the bridge.

Nice form, Ri!

Down she went!

Me, looking not so calm about it all before I jumped.

Ohhh boy....

Bad form, but good effort.

Down I made it.

And, I was hurting for days after this terrible jump. Next time I will remember to fly like an eagle, and not look down!
